Why was CoverStory started?

We created CoverStory’s online micro payment platform to benefit both readers and magazines -- readers only have to pay for pieces that they are actually interested in reading (unlike a subscription model) and magazines can build a direct revenue stream and expand their readership. And all the articles are delivered in an ad-free environment!

How does CoverStory work?

You can purchase articles on CoverStory by opening an account and maintaining a credit balance. As you purchase more articles, we provide more relevant recommendations for your further reading. Our goal is to make your reading experience seamless and engaging.

Is there an app to download?

Our website is responsive and can be opened through a browser on any typical phone, tablet, or desktop device; the website is designed to resize itself based on the size of the device’s screen. We don’t have a mobile phone or tablet app at this point.

How are we sourcing our articles?

CoverStory has partnered with various reputable magazines who have agreed to let us sell their content on a per article basis.

Does CoverStory own copyright to any of the content that it is selling?

No. The copyright to any article still belongs to the magazine from which the article is sourced.

What is the mode of payments for purchasing credit?

We currently accept credit cards on the Visa and MasterCard network. Pricing is in Canadian dollars.

What personal information do you keep on file?

We store your email, name, address and phone number. We do not store your credit card information. Our recommendation algorithm is based on your purchase history and is based on anonymized data. Please refer to our privacy policy for further details.

Is there a reason for the $10 floor and $20 cap on credit purchases?

Each credit card transaction comes with processing costs that we bear. In order to make this model economically viable, we had to set a floor of $10. We have also set a cap of $20 to ensure that there is always enough choice in the articles available for purchase in relation to your credit balance.

Can I get a refund of unused credit?

Yes, you can. We are confident that readers will have a great experience on our website and will have a variety of interesting content that they would like to read, but if a reader ends up with unused credits, we think it is fair for the reader to expect a refund.
