Biodynamics are considered the "new agriculture" when it comes to winemaking for the eco-thoughtful and planet conscious. Wine experts call it “biodynamic viticulture,” or in layman's terms, organic wine making based on 19th century thought. Taken from the artistic and intellectual work of Austrian thinker and architect Rudolf Steiner (1861- 1925) who developed a philosophy based on science and mysticism called anthroposophy, modern day vintners have adapted his philosophy to the making of their wine. The goal is to create a self-sustaining perfect ecosystem of soil, plants and pollination to create an ideal environment for wine-making.
